Today I’m going to showcase some of my favorite Booktube channels that I love to watch and get my book recommendations from. I know it’s kinda weird of me to do this since I’m a book blogger and the blogging and youtubing book community seem to be quite separate but I really do love watching Booktube and that’s my go-to source for book recommendations. I’ve arranged these by category just so it’ll be a little easier to navigate. If you’re an avid watcher of Booktube, I’m sure none of these channels will be new to you but if you’re new to the book community, I think these are some great places to start. So without further ado, let me introduce you to some of my favorite booktubers…
I’ve been in a really big Disney kick lately (I mean I permanently am but recently more so than usual) so I thought it would be the perfect time to do the Disney Book tag! This tag was created years and years ago by Katytastic. I originally wanted to make my own tag but then I got lazy and just decided to revive an old one. Let the magic begin!
It’s the end of the month which means it’s time to do another wrap-up! In April, I read a whopping 10 books and I have no idea how that even happened. Granted, some of these were pretty short and I managed to finish them in a day but I still think it’s pretty impressive. I did great quantitatively but qualitatively, it was a meh reading month with an average rating of 3.7. Let’s get to it because we’re gonna be here for awhile.
April is coming to an end which means it’s time to share with you my TBR for next month! Classes are finally over for me which by right means I’ll have more time to read but my TBR isn’t as full this time around as it usually is. I think it’s definitely manageable so who knows, I might actually get to read more than what I plan to. Anyway, here’s my TBR for the month of May.
Hello everyone! I’m here with another Top 5 Wednesday and this topic has got to be my favorite one yet. This topic is about all our favorite fandom merch and items that we own or wish we own and honestly, I’ve been on such a fandom stuff kick since last year. I’m the kind of person who spends their money extremely carefully and I basically never give in to impulse buying. But with fandom stuff, that’s a completely different story. If I ever impulse buy, it’s to buy all the wonderful fandom stuff out there. I just think there are so many cool items out there and it’s a great way to express yourself without being too in-your-face about it. I’ve tried very hard over the past year or so to populate all my possessions with fandom-related stuff and I’m excited to share with you some of my favorites today! I could probably do a whole post about my entire collection of fandom-related possessions so let me know if you wanna see that! Anyway, let’s get on with it!
5. The Greatest Showman prints
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m absolutely in love with this musical and this soundtrack (see: The Greatest Showman Book Tag) and when one of my favorite fandom artists, Risa Rodil, made a series of designs associated with all the songs from The Greatest Showman, I just knew I had to own all of them in some form or other. Prints were the easiest and cheapest route to go and I got these off of RedBubble. Here’s a link to her RedBubble store. She’s got lots of designs and art for a bunch of other fandoms too and you can get them on any item imaginable. These prints are currently hanging above my computer at home so that I have something pretty to look at when I’m getting bogged down by work lol.
4. Harry Potter wallet
This item is definitely the one that I get the most use out of since it’s my actual wallet that I use every day. It’s got a nice big compartment in front for me to store my phone and the actual wallet with all the card slots and stuff is at the back. The chain is also detachable so I can carry it around like a regular wallet or use it as a bag when I don’t need anything other than my wallet and phone. Super functional and I always get a lot of compliments for it. Sure it’s a little bulky but it’s worth it to show my Potter pride around wherever I go! Link for purchase here.
3. Tangled tapestry
This one is probably the most beautiful thing I own (scuse my face). It’s a gorgeous tapestry of the lantern scene from Tangled and it’s pretty big too. Currently, it hangs beside my bed and I put a string of fairy lights above it too to really get the Tangled vibe going. It’s a pretty magical sight when I only turn on the fairy lights, if I do say so myself. Super pretty and I got this on Society6, which, like RedBubble, is another website where independent artists can submit their designs and you can get their designs on all kinds of items, including huge tapestries. Link for this particular item here.
2. The World is Quiet Here decal
There are so many pretty fandom items available for purchase online but my favorite ones have got to be the ones I actually make myself. If you didn’t know, this is a quote from A Series of Unfortunate Events and I’ve made it and the VFD symbol into a wall decal which I’ve placed above my reading corner in my room. I think it’s absolutely fitting because this is a quote you would find in libraries in ASOUE so putting it above my reading corner was the perfect idea. It was actually my sister’s idea so kudos to her.
1. Walt Disney quotes poster
Speaking of fandom items that I made myself, this poster is probably my proudest creation. This is a huge poster I made of all my favorite Walt Disney quotes. I’ve been wanting a poster like this for the longest time but I could never find one I liked so in the end, I just made one myself. I’m super proud of this one and I think it looks great. It’s got all the inspiring quotes that I need to keep me motivated and I also really like the color scheme. It’s mounted above my bed in a giant-ass frame and every night, I fear that it will fall and crush my head but it hasn’t happened yet! Just as long as I keep wishing upon a star, am I right?
So those are all my favorite fandom items! I definitely have way more so let me know if you’d like to see more of my fandom collection and I might do a second part! My fandoms are my life and I love expressing my love for them in fun items such as these. It’s how I express my individuality and it’s how I identify myself to like-minded people too I guess! Fandom items are great and if I ever go bankrupt, this is probably the way I go and I have no regrets.
Cheers and happy shopping!
Hello! Today I come to you with a book tag that I created myself: The Psychology Book Tag! Obviously, psychology is one of my passions, given that I’m pursuing a PhD in it, so I thought it would be a good idea for me to create a book tag out of it. I’ve created the questions out of the different fields of psychology and there are so many, so I’ve only gone with the fields I’ve actually had some exposure to. So if you want to do this tag and your field of choice isn’t included, please feel free to add your own questions! Without further ado, let’s get started cause I’m super excited about this!
Are we ready for me to go on a complete rant? If you’ve been following my blog, you’d know that I have a love-hate relationship with The Maze Runner trilogy. I recently watched the adaptation for The Death Cure and I really enjoyed it, so much so that I started to rethink my opinions about the original Maze Runner books and I took it upon myself to reread the entire series to give it another chance. Boy was that a mistake. If anything, the love-hate relationship has now devolved into just a hate relationship. The book series is really quite terrible, especially when compared to the movies, which is a sinful thing to say for a reader I know. So today, I’ll be taking you through the reasons why I didn’t like The Maze Runner book series. Spoilers ahead.
